Description

In this video I will be discussing the the Christian Tradition or practice which is known as Lent.
This holiday begins on Ash Wednesday and last for 40 days where it culminates with Easter Sunday.
40 days that Jesus fasted before ministry
40 days Moses on the mountain and in the wilderness
40 days or rain with Noah
Came about at the Council of Nicea as well as several other things
Replaced Passover to make it palatable to Greco-Romans who were already from a polytheistic society
Not observed by the 1st Century Church or Jesus
Today’s Lent is more from fasting from sin altogether as opposed to food and water
The origin of Lent is deeply rooted in paganism just like Easter.
Lent comes from the Latin, Anglo-Saxon word “Lencten” which means Spring
Lent is directly taken from a mystic ancient Babylonian religion for a festival commemorating the Death and Resurrection of Tammuz
Tammuz was known as a False Messiah in the Babylonian tradition.
The Lent for this would take place 40 days before This Feast which would take place in June.
The women weeping and rejoicing took place during these 40 days as part of the custom and worship.
Tammuz is mentioned in the Old Testament in Ezekiel as a form of a prophecy that he had seen these women weeping for Tammuz. They were referred to as an abomination in the eyes of God. Idolatry.
The connection ironically is that, Ishtar, a fertility goddess, served as a nurse to the Babylonian god, Tammuz.
Rabbits and eggs
At the end of the day, it is about the intention but scripture warns us about following trends and innovations which leads down the path of idolatry.
