The nature of Jesus is a fundamental question for billions of people around the world. Who was Jesus: a Man, Messiah, Angel, or God?
The best way to understand who Jesus was, is not by reading isolated verses from the Gospel and making your own interpretations. The most reliable way of knowing the true nature of Jesus is by understating him the way his closest disciples understood him. So who did they say he was?
None of the disciples ever claim that Jesus was actually God or part of a triune God head.
Peter and the Disciples say he was a prophet and the Messiah, Mark 8:27-30 (NLT):
Jesus and his disciples left Galilee and went up to the villages near Caesarea Philippi. As they were walking along, he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”. “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other prophets.” Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Messiah.”. But Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
Martha believed he was the Messiah, Son of God, and sent by God, John 11:27 (NLT):
"Yes, Lord," she told him. "I have always believed you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who has come into the world from God."
The disciple Cleopas believed he was a man, prophet, teacher, and messiah, Luke 24:19-21 (NLV):
“The things that happened to Jesus, the man from Nazareth,” they said. “He was a prophet who did powerful miracles, and he was a mighty teacher in the eyes of God and all the people. But our leading priests and other religious leaders handed him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified him. We had hoped he was the Messiah who had come to rescue Israel. This all happened three days ago.
The author of the Gospel of John believed Jesus was the Messiah and Son of God, John 20:31 (NLT):
But these are written so that you may continue to believed that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.
The Chief Disciple Peter believed that Jesus was a man, prophet, and God did miracles through him, Acts 2:22 (ESV):
“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know—
It is clear that based on the teaching and training of Jesus, his closest disciples who knew him better than anyone else, and knew how to interpret his sayings best, concluded that he was a man, messenger, and Messiah - Not God!
